Forthcoming walks and events

Our leaders find it helpful to know who is coming on each walk. Please contact the walk leader via the WhatsApp group or using the telephone number in the programme. On occasion a limit of 30 on a given walk may be implemented at the discretion of the walk leader.

If you are intending to come on any of these walks please book in, from one week before, via the Peterborough Ramblers What’s App group.

Special notice: Path Accessibility Fund

In 2023, the Ramblers Path Accessibility Fund enabled significant accessibility improvements on public paths for people. Now, the Ramblers have announced that they have received further funding from the same wonderful anonymous donor to improve the accessibility of more paths in the year ahead.

In the 2024 round of funding, Ramblers HQ are welcoming expressions of interest for further projects that seek to remove barriers to accessing our paths and open up paths for more people. This could include, but is not limited to, the replacing of stiles for gaps and gates, laying boardwalks, installing accessible footbridges, and improving path surfaces.

You can read more about this important development via this link.

Walking with Peterborough Ramblers: Important Preliminaries

To go on one of these walks, either as a registered member of Peterborough Ramblers or if joining us for the first time, you must contact the leader (as listed below) first of all.  Bookings open at 9am six days before the walk.

We actively welcome non-members on our walks – of which there are between one and three arranged each week, both on weekdays and Sundays.

But please do note that our walks on Thursdays are between 4.5 miles and 5.5 miles, while the Sunday walks are between 6 miles and 9 miles.  You should ensure that you have an adequate level of fitness to tackle such a walk before joining one of our groups.  If you have not walked such distances before you will probably find it best to start with a Walking for Health Walk programme.

You will find details of our forthcoming programme of walks  on the official Ramblers site (scroll down the page to Upcoming Walks and Events).

If you want to see what our walks are like please do have a look at the reports of our walks which appear initially on the home page and then move onto our Index of Walks page.  Both contain photographs from the walks, and occasionally a commentary (sometimes serious, sometimes humorous as reflects the nature of our conversations as we progress).

WALK LEADERS: Please remember that in order to be covered by the Ramblers insurance policy you need to email your risk assessment report to janehogg44@gmail.com before the walk starts.  Jane’s number is 07572617587.
