appearing from time to time.<\/p>\n<p>Typographically it gives a deep insight into the state of the person writing the note, although I am sure it was written with the best of intention.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3917 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B23-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"432\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B23-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B23-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B23-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B23-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B23-2048x1536.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We walked towards, and they came forth to greet us and jolly conversations followed.\u00a0 &#8220;Moo,&#8221; said they and &#8220;moo&#8221; responded I, and we seemed to get on awfully well.\u00a0 But then with some regret I bade my merry chums (for some I had <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3920 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B31-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"432\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B31-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B31-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B31-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B31-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B31-2048x1536.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/>come to think of them) a fond farewell and once more ventured forth.<\/p>\n<p>And then, just when I was thinking of looking at my telephonic device to see how far we had walked, there, on the far horizon was indeed the church that was the main feature of <a href=\"https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/?p=3897\">part one<\/a> of my epic journey.<\/p>\n<p>And actually, on a more serious note, I would say that this picture really does capture what that village is about, nestling in the hollows away from the howling gales that I always associate with the 12th century.<\/p>\n<p>I was indeed moved &#8211; and although that was mostly by the walker behind me not realising I had stopped for what us literary types like to call a &#8220;moment of emotional inspiration.&#8221; But it was nevertheless a moving moment.<\/p>\n<p>We did indeed thereafter take a peek within the church,\u00a0 and even if no one else <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3923 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B34-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"431\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B34-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B34-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B34-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B34-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/peterboroughramblers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/B34-2048x1536.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 431px) 100vw, 431px\" \/>did I felt the contemporary note about the concern for the organist&#8217;s well-being touching.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed it was a fine organ for a small village church, and I do hope it is played each Sunday, and those attending appreciate both the sums that must have been raised in the past and the dedication of a musician in keeping the tradition going.<\/p>\n<p>For although the village is listed in the Domesday Book\u00a0 it would be wrong to think all had been peace and quite here.\u00a0 Allow me to quote from the Leicestershire churches website, as a way of concluding:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By the 13th century the Neville\u2019s held the manor passing ownership to his son before he was hanged for theft in 1276.
