King’s Cliffe is one of those strange English villages that will insist on spelling its name in all sorts of different ways.\u00a0 I have talked quite seriously with the village about this habit but it seems it will not cease or desist, pesky place that it is.<\/p>\n

So you may find it mentioned at Kings Cliffe, or King’s Cliff, Kings Cliff, or Kingscliffe or Stratford on Avon, although that last name is probably just a mistake.<\/p>\n

It finds itself on Willow Brook which is a tributary of the River Nene, alongside which we have marched on many an occasion.<\/p>\n

The village itself is not far from Stamford (six miles or so according to the cartographers) and so is, was or in the county of Lincs.<\/p>\n

I regret I have not been given a commentary by those who walked but as you can see from the pictures it was in autumn.<\/p>\n

The church goes back to the 13th century and is called in part “decorated gothic”.\u00a0 Those goths seemed to be all over the place and indeed at this location seemed to be very active developing a perpendicular Gothic clerestory, but I regret that telling you what that is, is beyond my ability at this time.\u00a0 So I shall leave you with the pictures.\u00a0<\/sup><\/p>\n
